Additional information

IEEE 802.11p is the networking standard for vehicular communications, e.g., car-to-car and car-to-infrastructure. Multi-channel MAC extension (IEEE 1609.4) enable the IEEE 802.11p networks to support high data rates and good separation of communication channels for emergency dissemination messages in motorways from infotainment services. This paper proposes a novel multi-channel MAC protocol that addresses inefficiency problems in the original IEEE 1609.4 standard. This work has been done within a collaborative EU project in collaboration with some leading manufacturers such as NEC and Hitachi who may exploit the results in the future.
