Additional information

We identify the importance of the alkaline ionomer in alkaline polymer electrolyte fuel cells. This communication reports on a novel alkaline ionomer concept. Vitally, it is an aqueous processable system, which is important for safety (vital if you are going to scale up the production of catalysts inks with highly flammable nanocatalysts). This is the first report of an aqueous processable alkaline ionomer system for solid alkaline fuel cells (one of the newer classes of low temperature fuel cells that were pioneered by the Surrey Energy team). This article stemmed from development in PCT Patent Application WO 2010/018370 A1.
