Additional information

Hybridizing a fuel cell with an energy storage unit (battery or supercapacitor) combines the advantages of each device to deliver a system with higher efficiency, lower emissions, and extended operation relative to a single technology. This paper presented a sizing-design methodology to inform hybrid system design decisions and meet the power and energy demand for a given application, while simultaneously meeting weight and volume constraints. The paper provides guidelines on the selection of power sources and energy storage technologies for different applications.
