<12> This paper resulted from collaboration between Staffordshire University and Qingdao Technological University, around a real-world application in China. The paper discusses an intelligent optimisation algorithm to achieve energy efficiency for optimal pump station operation within a water supply network. It is the first reported work which solves this optimisation problem using multi-objective evolutionary algorithms combined with a repair mechanism, and develops a mixed coding methodology and a new crossover operator according to the characteristics of decision variables.
