<12>A preliminary version of this work appeared in WINE-2007 (not returned in RAE-2008). We give the best-known approximation for Nash equilibria that can be computed in polynomial time. It achieves an epsilon of 0.3388. Our method is based on quadratic programs and the analysis is the first of its kind. Our follow-up to this work (Tsaknakis and Spirakis WINE-2010; not REF returned) that directly builds on this paper, was discussed, along with the importance of the problem, in the blog of Richard Lipton "Rumors and Playing Games".
