A neuroanatomically grounded Hebbian-learning model of attention-language interactions in the human brain.
<24> This paper reports simulation results of a large-scale neural network model that at the time of publication was unparalleled in complexity and neural realism. The paper attracts significant citations. Predictions of the model led to new experiments in Pulvermueller's lab. This work led to the £1.6M EPSRC grant BABEL for novel experiments and an extended model implemented on special purpose spiking neuron hardware (SpiNNaker, Furber, Manchester) to be used in an iCub robot (Cangelosi, PU). This model was included in the forthcoming “Handbook of Computational Neuroscience” (MIT Press; edited by Arbib).
