Additional information

Our studies of ignition likelihood through mechanical stimuli have significantly contributed to the safety cases being made at Sellafield for the decommissioning operations. The research has had a significant influence on Sellafield plant designs, underpinning more economical design options. In particular, our results and analyses have been used for the MSSS and SDP plant operations where the resulting savings for the latter have been estimated at £50 M. Verification: Dr Martin Fairclough, Sellafield Ltd, Warrington, WA3 6JR. Telephone: 01925 833104. martin.p.fairclough@sellafieldsites.com.
