Additional information

This paper highlights the possibility that unbalanced magnetic pull in electrical machines can be controlled and exploited as a rotordynamics control mechanism without including any additional copper in the windings. Several companies are taking this forward including Cummins (Neil.I.Brown@cummins.com), AirBearings (Chris.Matthews@airbearings.com) and Aeristech (Bryn.Richards@aeristech.co.uk).
