Double-weighted statement

Inhuman Nature contains eight substantial chapters, of which only one is based on previously published material (and that publication is not included in this or previous research assessment exercises). The book lays out a new theoretical or conceptual basis for social science to seriously consider the dynamism of the earth, and in so doing brings together insights from across the social sciences, philosophy and the natural sciences. It also covers, in some depth, the substantive areas of global climate change, human fire use, and natural catastrophes including the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake, Hurricane Katrina and the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.
