This work led to : a) The Bangor co-ordinated 3-year EC-FP7-PIANO+ project entitled “Optical OFDM for cost effective area networks” (OCEAN) with a total project budget of €3.07M (£654k for Bangor, 2011-2014); b) work contained in more than 20 papers in high-quality international journals and 10 invited presentations in international conferences including OFC, ACP and OECC; c) Fruitful research collaborations, undertaken within projects such as Alpha and OCEAN, with major international companies including Huawei, French Telecom, Fujitsu Labs and Finisar.
