This international collaboration with the University of Concepcion, the University of Chile, and the Centre for Scientific Studies, Chile, was an output from the Chilean National Science Foundation (FONDECYT) Projects ‘Glacier-volcano interactions in southern Chile: volcanic hazard and climate change implications’ (97,625,000 Chilean pesos; ~ £125,000) and ‘Ice-capped volcanoes in southern Chile: glacier impacts of geothermal activity and eruptive events. Support to decision making and adaptive process’ (159,218,000 Chilean pesos; ~ £204,000) on which Brock was overseas collaborator and a Royal Society travel award to Brock.
