This work involved some of the first measurements at very large tip clearances in cascades and showed a number of counter-intuitive behaviours, including that the blade loading can actually increase as the tip clearance increases. The work was conducted with a global gas turbine manufacturer. Originally presented at the ASME Turbo-Expo Conference and was one of a small percentage (less than 20%) of the papers selected for journal publication.
