The book was commissioned by Ashgate following a panel co-convened by Pericolo and Nagel at the 2007 Renaissance Society of America conference. Pericolo selected the contributors, edited the individual essays, and co-wrote approximately half of the Introduction (with Nagel), pp. 1-15. He was also sole author of the essay, ‘Nude in Motion’, pp. 195-216. He wrote approximately one eighth of the book.
