Interplay between the charge transport phenomena and the charge-transfer phase transition in RbxMn[Fe(CN)6]y.zH2O
The magnetic and optical properties of bimetallic Prussian Blue systems can be switched by light irradiation, electrostatic pressure or electro(chemical) methods. In this paper we demonstrated that conductivity changes accompanying the phase transition in this class of compounds are sufficiently important to be eventually used in practical applications, such as memory or switching devices. More recently this concept of exploiting the variation in charge transport for different electronic forms of the same material has been successfully applied to a related type of switchable material (Chem. Commun., 2012,48, 4163) and this may present a vital step forward towards commercialisation.
