Additional information

The work in this paper spawned a new research field on the use of wireless technologies to control energy use in intermittently occupied buildings. The work won funding a UK national competition run by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) titled ‘’Energy Efficiency Whitehall’’ in 2010 to develop innovative technologies for improving energy efficiency in existing Whitehall buildings. The research track record from this project spawned two other TSB funded projects on an existing office building in Lochgelly, near Edinburgh; and an existing distillery in Glasgow – both in collaboration with ECD architects.
