Additional information

<28>GFtbox now includes a cell layer for patterns of cell growth and division that allows us to quantitatively account for observed patterns of Arabidopsis leaf growth. By varying parameters, the model yields shapes consistent with families of observed leaf shapes (cf. Output 1) i.e. the model predicts a morphospace consistent with biological observation. We then showed that by modifying the postulated polarity patterns and growth rates we could also account for the growth of differently shaped Arabidopsis petals. With the help of mutants we then identified candidate key genes (Sauret-Güeto et al, (2013) PLoS Biol 11(4): e1001550. doi:10.1371 / journal.pbio.1001550)
