Analytical solutions for the electric field and dielectrophoretic force in a dielectrophoretic focusing electrode structure
Significance of output:
This paper contains the first demonstration of the application of particular analytical design methods to the area of electric field driven microsystems. A highly versatile approach, this paper presents the method in a concise well-tested approach for validation, with a broad range of applications. By rendering complex problems tractable in terms of modelling, this work represents an important step toward the design and development of field driven systems for particle separation and manipulation used in chemistry and biochemical lab-on-a-chip devices. This work was the precursor of six further papers in this and related areas.
