Additional information

<06> A key challenge for protecting heterogeneous wireless sensor networks is how to enable sensor nodes to share cryptographic keys authentically and resource-efficiently for secure communications. This paper proposes a novel lightweight scheme for such key establishment. It is built on an original idea of creating vertical key shareability before sensor deployment to enable horizontal key shareability when needed after the deployment. A rigorous analysis is provided to confirm the scheme’s security, and a comparison with related work to demonstrate its significance. The work has been extended jointly with SELEX ES Ltd for secure group communication.
