In situ imaging and height reconstruction of phase separation processes in polymer blends during spin coating
This was the first ever demonstration of monitoring the spin-coating process in real time, using strobe lighting and interference microscopy. Other researchers have already discussed the potential significance of this innovative work. Bartlett et al. (DOI: 10.1021/la3008409) highlighted the potential of our method for unlocking the study of field-induced self-organisation, vital in many processes, such as biomimetic systems and microfluidics. Our study revealed many details of the process, essential for its applications in other areas (highlighted in DOI: 10.1021/la3008409), most notably for the optimal creation of photovoltaic devices (DOI: 10.1007/s00289-011-0687-5).
