Additional information

<20>This paper reports on the first empirical attempt to determine the nature of the internal cognitive structures built by people observing graph drawings, so as to identify those features most readily identified. These features inform the design of automatic graph drawing systems. The experiment is the first example of the use of a graph memory test in conjunction with graph sketching software. As such, it both offers a novel methodology as well as the first insight into those features of graphs that are most memorable. This paper is published in the top-ranked journal for Information Visualisation research.
