Calculating the forced response of two-dimensional homogeneous media using the wave and finite element method
Significance of output:
Cost-effective numerical techniques for the prediction of the vibro-acoustic behaviour of complicated structures are necessary to ensure the adherence of transportation vehicles to the tightening legal regulations on sound emissions and immissions. This paper is in a series of papers published as a result of a three year EU funded project, in collaboration with Bombardier, where the response of arbitrarily complicated panels to arbitrarily distributed loads is obtained semi-analytically. The method presented is easy to code and can be used alongside existing commercial/in-house finite element packages.
