Physical Fidelity: Exploring the Importance of Physicality on Physical-Digital Conceptual Prototyping.
<20> This work is the first to investigate the impact of a mixed fidelity approach with physical prototyping, rather than software prototypes. It is significant, not only in demonstrating the viability of the concept but also in identifying its relevance at particular stages in the design process depending on the expected level of user feedback. Low fidelity prototyping methods are fast and cost-effective, but more suited to the initial exploratory stage. To gain more realistic feedback about a device intended design and interaction aspects, higher fidelity physical prototypes that also provide users with real-time interaction and feedback are vital.
