<27> This paper arises from PhD research funded by the Cutty Sark Trust from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Two PhD research projects have been created as a result of the work reported. The first extends the initial project aiming to develop more accurate diagnostics and prognostics algorithms and implementation at the sensor level. The second looks at developing a decision support system to predict the return on investment, and develop business cases for implementing integrated prognostics health management solutions for heritage structures. This work has allowed further bids around the diagnosis and prediction of failure in aging marine structures.
