Decision support for sustainable option selection in integrated urban water management
This paper details the newly developed decision support tools of the 'Water Cycle Management for New Developments (WaND)' project, a £2.5M, multi-disciplinary, multi-institution consortium (PI: Butler), funded by EPSRC (GR/S18373/02), the Environment Agency and industry. The novelty of the work ensures continuing significant academic impact and the models and methodology have been published in a practitioner guide (WaND. Guidance on Water Cycle Management for New Developments, CIRIA Report C690, ISBN 978-086017-690-9) widely used by consulting engineers, regulators and planners. The work led onto several subsequent projects and most notably another EPSRC research consortium (PI: Butler), 'Ashford's Integrated Alternatives' (EP/F04819X/01).
