Additional information

This paper shows how the performance of an interconnection of a LTI system with a static sector-bounded nonlinear element can be improved by augmenting the controller with a static nonlinear element. This research was carried out as part of the £438K EPSRC "Control of Complex Systems" platform grant, of which MCT was co-investigator. It has led to new insights into simple nonlinear controller design for constrained linear systems. These ideas have been further explored in new fundamental research undertaken by MCT and a former student, Prof. Jorge Sofrony (jsofronye@unal.edu.co) - now an Associate Professor at the National University of Colombia.
