This paper compares three different advanced gain scheduling synthesis techniques for the longitudinal dynamics control of a generic aircraft model. Full-block multipliers and the Linear Parameter Varying gridding synthesis techniques proven very successful while the third one, computationally simpler, based on multipliers commuting with the parameter structure, did not lead to a promising design. The paper provides guidelines to the designer and contrasts the merits of different approaches in terms of complexity, ease of implementation and performance.
