Additional information

HF propagation measurements along the mid-latitude trough (undertaken with previous EPSRC support) are compared with simultaneous trans-ionospheric satellite measurements. These comparisons confirm several HF propagation mechanisms for this type of path that had previously been inferred. The reported research feeds into our wider programme developing propagation forecasting and nowcasting tools for HF propagation at northerly latitudes, currently focussed in support of airlines operating on trans-polar routes funded by the EPSRC (EP/K008781/1, £347k).
