Additional information

This paper adds further detail to pre-existing models of friction in pin on disc systems which have imposed pin rotation. The study was prompted because a previous mathematical model published by Stolarski was not able to fully model the components of force and the torque in this system.

This revised model matches published data better than the previous work, highlighting the variation of contact pressure within the conforming contact. It can also be applied to study adhesion.
