Additional information

The LIFT process was optimised by controlling two parameters during the deposition: 1) the gap between the substrates, and 2) the environmental pressure. This article presented the results of the optimization by showing how three-colour OLED pixels (such as those in a traditional electronic display) could be fabricated by LIFT using an inter-substrate gap of 15 µm, and a low pressure of 1 mbar. This demonstrated the enormous increase in reliability of the LIFT process, as well as the quality of the devices and the flexibility of the process to making different devices.
