Additional information

This paper addresses the need for improved anti-biofouling technologies for man-made underwater structures that do not rely on biocidal principles. This work describes the fabrication, characterization, and biological evaluation of a thin protein-resistant PEG-based hydrogel coating for antifouling applications, which involved 5 universities. The main contributions of Qi Zhao at University of Dundee included contact angle measurements and biological evaluation with bacteria, which is crucial for the success for the development of the new coatings. The biological results showed that the hydrogel coating exhibited excellent antifouling properties with respect to settlement and removal. The work is recognised through 44 citations.
