The dual role of paramagnetic particles for integrated lysis and measurement in a rapid immunoassay for intracellular proteins
This is the first time that paramagnetic particles have been used to enhance cell lysis and to perform intracellular measurement, resulting in vastly reduced measurement times compared with other techniques. This work has led to a licensing arrangement with Clarity Biosciences. This research activity has led to the award of a Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellowship (April 2013) and the setting up a spin-out company, MIAtech (company number 8585512, June 2013), focussed on commercialising the technology for application in food safety testing. MIAtech has already attracted investor funding and a TSB grant (242244).
