Additional information

The paper details the novel logarithmic realisation of the world’s highest dynamic range and lowest power consumption circuit mimicking the basilar membrane. Dynamic range performance matches the biological performance of the ear. The circuit is suitable for ultra-low-power bionic ear processors or cochlear implant processors. Part of a series of more than ten journal and conference papers describing research funded by EPSRC (GR/S69269/01). Led to an invitation to contribue opinions at an MRC-organised policy-forming workshop on “Transformational Approaches to Improving Hearing Aids” and to a plenary lecture at EHAC2010.
