Practice as Research in the Arts: Principles, Protocols, Pedagogies, Resistances
100 word statement for an output where there is significant material in common with an output published prior to 1 January 2008
This book-length publication substantially expands upon the account of PaR published in Performance Research (11. 4 2006) and submitted to REF 2007. It reflects investigation of the state of play in PaR world-wide, particularly in respect of resistances, and includes voices from various “regions”. My triadic ‘Modes of Knowing’ model is revised and the process of a multi-mode research methodology more fully unpacked. The book extends the philosophical justification for practical knowing and links the case with parallel viewpoints in other disciplines. It also up-dates the “ten steps to the perfect PaR PhD”, first published a decade ago.
