Additional information

This work carried out at Bolton by a visiting researcher (Razzaghi) was sponsored by the Petroleum University, Tehran (Iran). The pilot scale data was obtained by the Oil Recovery group at the University of Calgary. The paper extended my investigations to obtain basic kinetic data pertinent to mathematical modelling of the in situ combustion process for enhanced oil recovery. This work led to an EPSRC and BP funded £3m project collaborative project with the University of Bath. A recovery process developed from these studies is successfully being exploited in Canada.
