Additional information

As the first of several outputs arising from the work funded by Arthritis Research Campaign, this paper reports the pioneering development of an innovative measurement system and data acquisition protocol for non-invasive clinical assessment of knee joints, and shows for the first time the difference in acoustic emission profile between healthy and osteoarthritic knees. This new measurement system has attracted extensive media coverage including BBC News (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-10630883), and is now commercially available from the Mistras Group (Contact: Managing Director, Mistras Group).
