Double-weighted statement

Research involved collecting and analysing a considerable body of primary literary texts (over 200 books, articles, Parliamentary reports, and pamphlets) from a range of genres published in three periods, as well as periodical and theatre reviews by and about its principal authors. The body of material was significantly augmented by extensive research into the hundreds of sociologists, institutional theorists and historians who have responded to Weber’s theories about bureaucracy. The scope of this study brings these together with literary critics on the three authors, to investigate how institutions are sustained by imagination.
