A stochastic simulation method for uncertainty quantification in the linearized inverse conductivity problem
This paper proves that the statistics of the linearization error in electrical impedance tomography (EIT) inverse problems is inadequately described as Gaussian, as is common in popular Bayesian EIT reconstruction solutions. The paper further proposes a new computationally efficient methodology to address this issue. This research was supported by a Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation postdoctoral fellowship (aioulian@research.org.cy). It was instrumental in advancing the outcome of DoI:10.2528/PIER09052503 and developing the framework for DoI:10.1137/11084724X. The results have been exploited in an ESA funded project (laurent.pambaguian@esa.int) with the University of Patras (kostopoulos@mech.upatras.gr) on the use of EIT imaging for composite material non-destructive testing.
