Double-weighted statement

This is the first study dedicated to the phenomenon of borrowing in 14th-century French songs and lyric poetry and is the result of years of detailed research into a large corpus of works. Hundreds of works were analysed, multiple research trips to libraries in France undertaken, and the examples were newly transcribed, edited, and translated. The interdisciplinary approach adopted required knowledge of a large body of primary sources, and relied on acquiring a deep familiarity of secondary sources across several fields, including medieval studies, literature, musicology, history, and critical theory.
