<28> This paper describes the creation of an ant colony optimisation based algorithm for exploring single SNP and gene-gene interactions in real-world genome-wide association study data. The use of this algorithm could have profound implications for human health as it is able to efficiently search the large space of gene-gene interactions in association studies one of the first such algorithms to do so. This work was used as the basis for a successful EPSRC funding application (EP/J007439/1) that has resulted in further conference publications and a journal submission. This journal has a five year impact factor of 3.676.
