Additional information

This collaborative work with Moorfields Eye Hospital consultants (Mr Angunawela, Mr Alyward) relates to the tamponade which keeps the retina fixed in position following surgery. Together with a companion paper (IRVOS, 2011, V52, 7046-7051) on tamponade dynamics, this paper demonstrates that post-operative patient posturing is unnecessary in cases of retinal breaks treated with tamponades. This has provided support for modifying clinical practice by Mr Alyward. This work has led to 2 PhD studentships, supported by Moorfields Charity funds, in collaboration with Prof Luthert (Director of IOOP on retinal blood flow, p.luthert@ucl.ac.uk) and Prof Khaw (p.khaw@ucl.ac.uk) on glaucoma.
