Predictive gene lists for breast cancer prognosis: a topographic visualisation study
<24> This paper developed new machine-learning algorithms for the emerging computational science area of visual informatics of high dimensional databases, and applied to a medical informatics problem. The algorithms have since led to further funded projects from Dstl (Dr Holland-Smith djhsmith@mail.dstl.gov.uk Porton Down SP4 0JQ) on the Multisource Intelligence Challenge (DSTLX00005448 value £30k) on computer-assisted analysis of security data, and an Industrial Mathematics KTN/CASE project with Thales (value £93k) - one of only 5 funded projects - (Dr Les Hart, Thales Underwater Systems Limited, Cheshire; les.hart@uk.thalesgroup.com) on topographic visualisation of high dimensional sonar data, and a further PhD project.
