Additional information

Simultaneous measurements of the wave turbulence spectrum in time and space domain have been long awaited by the wave turbulence community in the context of the argument between schools of Zakharov-Filonenko, Kuznetsov, and Phillips. The measurements performed in a rectangular 12 x 16 metre wave tank have revealed dependence of the spectra on wave intensity which none of the theories can explain. In addition to being used by theoreticians, obtained results are relevant to translation of satellite observations of the sea surface to the roughness and the corresponding friction in the atmospheric boundary layer.
