The work reported in this paper stemmed from research performed on the BBSRC funded proposal E19292 “The biology of drug targeting: Predictive mathematical modelling of drug impact in complex and dynamic cell populations”. The work in this paper led to invited presentations at the 2nd Workshop on Mathematical Aspects of Systems Biology, Gothenburg, Sweden and the Marie Curie funded Graz Summer School and Workshop on Biomedical Modelling and Cardiovascular-Respiratory Control: Theory and Practice, Graz, Austria.
