This research is part of a larger programme on “High performance steel in Civil Engineering Structures” (Delft University of Technology, research lead by Prof. F Bijlaard) with the objective of revisiting current EN 1993 provisions for the design of beam-to-column joints made from high strength steel within the semi-continuous/partially-restrained concept. This work was also presented and discussed at the 6th ECCS-AISC workshop (Chicago 2008) on Connections in Steel Structures that was attended (attendance by invitation only) by European and American researchers, designers, fabricators and steel industry representatives with significant expertise in this area (e.g. Dr. Reidar Bjorhovde, The Bjorhovde Group, rbj@bjorhovde.com).
