This paper is the first open literature to report the research results for the flow boiling heat transfer in metallic foams, and it generated wide interests, including specifically Heat Exchanger Action Group (David Reay, D.A.Reay@hw.ac.uk). I was invited to attend and give a keynote talk for flow boiling heat transfer in metal foams in heat transfer conference in London in 2009. This paper was published in the special issue entitled “Molecular to large scale heat transfer with multi-phase interfaces”. In the special issue a total 16 distinguished papers are selected worldwide (from the open call) to be published.
