Am Ende der Gewissheiten: Die ökologische Frage im 21. Jahrhundert.
The book has three parts. The first is a brief history of German environmentalism that seeks to incorporate much of the criticism that has been lodged at earlier interpretations of environmentalism (particularly its narrow focus on civic actors and the constrained thematic scope) into a new synthesis. The second part shows how history resonates in ongoing environmental debates. The brief third part offers some conclusions for environmentalism in the twenty-first century. In highlighting the enduring significance of the past for current debates, the book provides a showcase for the potential of the emerging interdisciplinary field called environmental humanities.
