Double-weighted statement

This book represents the first attempt to examine the status of children under EU law and policy. It draws extensively on a range of disciplinary perspectives, including children’s rights, the sociology of childhood, EU law and politics, migration studies and social policy. It also blends doctrinal analysis with qualitative and quantitative research. Together, these perspectives provide a rich and detailed examination of how the EU’s constitutional, institutional and political powers can be harnessed to advance children’s rights. This is illustrated by reference to a number of substantive areas, including education, migration, family justice, child protection and EU enlargement.
