Double-weighted statement

The underpinning research took seven years to complete, from start of PhD to publication. It is considerably greater in scope than the disciplinary norm for the following reasons. First, it is interdisciplinary – the project required a critical understanding of not only law but also political science models of multi-level governance. Second, the comparative methodology applied required sophisticated knowledge of the EU and the US antitrust and governance regimes. Third, it adopts an empirical methodological approach: the research into the US regime reported in the book is based on extensive archive research and interviews
