Additional information

In-situ study of oxidation of La2NiO4 fuel cell cathode suggests Pt electrical contacts facilitate Ni oxidation as function of temperature. Most current studies use Pt in screening new electrodes. Revision of testing protocols now required particularly with Ni present. Used Diamond synchrotron source to obtain high resolution XRD data. Identified stable operating regime for new cathode. PhD (Sayers) funded as part of Supergen EPSRC initiative. Led to EPSRC funded collaborative research project(EP/J0030805 in-situ multiscale characterisation of SOFC) electrodes (£1m) in which Skinner is PI. Further PhD projects resulting from this funded through DTG investigating electrode oxidation.
