Additional information

Understanding non-linearities that arise in aerodynamic flows is important for safety and increasing performance of aeroplanes by expanding their flight envelope. Finding unstable solutions is an enabler for both optimisation involving CFD and designing-away unwanted unstable behaviour. Paper is first study to apply mathematical continuation methods to 2D turbulent transonic flow over an aerofoil as incidence varies. Work led to further funding by Airbus UK [contact: Skill Group Leader CFD] and contributed to co-author Avitabile's appointment at University of Nottingham as Lecturer.
